The southwesterly flank of Washaqua Hill is conserved here, with its long-distance view of the Norton Point Beach. In the foreground is a sloping meadow leading down to a small salt-pond braced by a 550’-long cobble beach. Boats may be launched into the Katama Bay at the foot of the Quammox Road; short-term drop-off parking is provided there, with longer-term parking in the trailhead up the hill.
Start at the intersection of the Chappaquiddick and Quammox Roads. Proceed down the Quammox Road 0.1 miles and turn left into trailhead.
- preserve is named for the public way, Quammox Road, that runs from “five corners” to Katama Bay; the name “Quamoks” dates as far back as 1722 where it was mentioned in a deed
