    Description

    Top-grade soils and a flat terrain have made the Katama great plains attractive to farmers for centuries. A portion of this property is currently used as a cornfield.

    Access

    Park on the shoulder of the Herring Creek Road 0.4 miles past its split with the Katama Road.

    Historical Highlights

    • the 12 acres on the east side of Herring Creek Road were once run as a chicken farm — 8000 to 10000 pullets spent the summers in little huts across the preserve.
