Norton Fields Preserve
Top-grade soils and a flat terrain have made the Katama great plains attractive to farmers for centuries. A portion of this property is currently used as a cornfield.
Park on the shoulder of the Herring Creek Road 0.4 miles past its split with the Katama Road.
Scenic vista only: no trailhead or trail
- the 12 acres on the east side of Herring Creek Road were once run as a chicken farm — 8000 to 10000 pullets spent the summers in little huts across the preserve.
