 20th Anniversary Amateur Photography Contest

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank Commission has held an amateur photography contest. Amateur photographers from near and far have entered photographs for the contest. In all, several dozen photos were received showing beautiful landscapes and views of the Land Bank’s conservation properties.

A panel of judges which included Debbie Grant and Ron Howard, both professional photographers from the local community, and Cindy Krauss, Land Bank fiscal officer, chose the winning pictures.

First place winning photograph is “View from the Boardwalk” taken at Farm Pond Preserve, submitted by Juleanne VanBelle of West Tisbury.
Second place winning photograph is “Evening Reflection” taken at Priester’s Pond Preserve, submitted by Max Skjoldebrand of Dubai, U.A.E.

The third place winning photograph is “Late Springtime Splendor” taken at Duarte’s Pond Preserve, submitted by Patrick Stiriti of Edgartown.

The winning photograph has taken its place on the cover of the next issue of the Land Bank’s Conservation Lands Map. The second and third place winning photographs are shown on the inside of the map. All of the winning photos described above are on display at the Land Bank offices. The public is invited to come and see them.
