   48. TEA LANE FARM

Size
50.0 Acres

Description
As an example of the quintessential up-island farm, Tea Lane Farm is hard to beat. The fields roll high and low; a dry hilltop drops rapidly into a broad swamp along the Tiasquam River. The farmstead itself was purchased by the town of Chilmark, while the land bank acquired the balance of the land surrounding it. One of the sellers is currently farming the property, subject to life rights; after the life-estate has ended the land bank and town will seek a farmer who will create a working farm here, with land bank trails along the perimeter. Dog-walking (leashes required).

Uses

Nature study, hiking, mountain biking, dog walking

Directions
Park on the shoulder of the Meetinghouse Road, just beyond its intersection with the Middle Road. Trail starts on the Middle Road just opposite this intersection.
